Many Frigidaire ranges now offer an Air Fry setting, and the results can be excellent. When owners are disappointed, it is rarely a broken oven. A full-size oven cavity behaves differently from a small countertop air fryer, and a few adjustments usually fix soggy results or smoke.
Use the Right Pan
Frigidaire recommends its Air Fry tray, a perforated tray that lets hot air reach the underside of food. If you do not have one, Frigidaire suggests a dark, nonstick baking sheet. Light-colored or insulated sheets tend to produce paler, softer results.
Do Not Overcrowd
Air frying depends on hot air moving around each piece. Spread food in a single layer with space between pieces. Crowding traps steam and slows browning. Cook in batches if necessary.
Rack Position and Preheat
Follow the rack position your manual recommends for Air Fry. Check whether your model requires preheating for this mode; instructions vary between models.
Reduce Smoke
- Keep the oven floor clean. Old drips and crumbs smoke under the strong airflow of Air Fry.
- For fatty foods, Frigidaire suggests lining the drip or catch tray below with parchment paper to hold grease. Do not put parchment where it can touch a heating element or blow loose.
- Pat food dry and use only a light coating of oil.
When It Is Not a Technique Issue
If Air Fry and convection bake both cook unevenly, the convection fan does not seem to run, or you hear grinding or scraping from the back of the oven, the convection fan motor or element may need attention. Book a Frigidaire range repair visit.
