What SY EF Means
SY EF appears on Frigidaire electronic-control refrigerators (Gallery and Professional French-door, side-by-side and four-door models) when the control board detects a problem in the evaporator fan circuit. Frigidaire lists it as a system error that needs service. Without that fan, cold air from the freezer coil stops moving, so both compartments can start warming even while the compressor still runs.

- Ice buildup around the fan blade from a defrost problem
