What PF Means
PF (or a Power Failure message) is Frigidaire's notice that the refrigerator lost power at some point. It is informational — the refrigerator is telling you to check temperatures — and can be followed by a high-temperature alarm while the compartments recover.
Common Causes of PF
- Utility power outage
- Tripped breaker or GFCI outlet
- Loose plug or worn outlet
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press Alarm Reset (or the key your manual names) to acknowledge PF once power is back. Then check food with a thermometer: USDA guidance is to discard perishables that sat above 40°F for more than 2 hours. If the refrigerator cools normally afterward, no repair is needed.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None — PF by itself is a routine notice, not a fault. Call only if power keeps dropping at the outlet or cooling does not recover.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
