What Add Water Means
On Frigidaire countertop ice makers such as the EFIC117-SS family, the Add Water indicator light is part of the standard control panel and means the machine has detected too little water in the reservoir to continue making ice.
Common Causes of Add Water
- Reservoir low or empty
- Unit not level
- Scale or residue on the water level sensor
- Failed water pump or sensor
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the ice maker before handling water. Fill the reservoir to the level mark with fresh drinking water, check that the drain plug is secure, place the unit on a level surface, and plug it back in. If the light stays on with a full reservoir, clean the reservoir and sensor area as your manual describes, then book service if it continues.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None when the reservoir is simply low — refilling is routine. If the light stays on with water present, the pump or sensor needs a technician.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
