What OP (Refrigerator Display) Means
When OP shows in the refrigerator temperature position on a Frigidaire electronic-control model, the control is reading the fresh-food temperature sensor circuit as open. Frigidaire lists OP as a system error requiring service. The control can no longer measure that compartment accurately, so temperatures may drift.
Common Causes of OP (Refrigerator Display)
- Failed fresh-food temperature sensor (thermistor)
- Broken sensor wire or unplugged connector
- Control board input fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
First make sure the refrigerator door is fully closed and the gasket is not folded over, since some repair guides note an open door can accompany this display. Then do a single 5-minute unplug or breaker reset. If OP returns, stop and book service — the sensor and its wiring are behind interior panels.

- The sensor is clipped behind an interior air duct or panel, and the wiring behind it connects back to the powered control board.
- Replacing a sensor without testing the wiring often leaves an open circuit in the harness.
