Almost every useful repair conversation starts with the same two strings of characters: the model number and the serial number. The model number tells a technician which parts, wiring diagram and service bulletins apply. The serial number narrows it down to a production run. Having both ready before you call saves a round of back-and-forth and makes it far more likely the right part arrives on the first visit.
Where the Tag Usually Is
Frigidaire moves the rating tag around between product families and production years, so treat these as the first places to look rather than guarantees:
- Refrigerators: inside the fresh-food compartment, typically on an upper side wall or near the top of the liner, sometimes behind a crisper drawer.
- Upright and chest freezers: on an inside wall near the top, or on the back or side of the cabinet on some chest models.
- Dishwashers: along the edge of the inner door or the side of the tub opening, visible when the door is open.
- Ranges and wall ovens: on the frame behind the storage or warming drawer, or on the oven frame visible when the door is open.
- Front-load washers and dryers: around the door opening or on the inside of the door frame.
- Top-load washers: under the lid or on the back of the cabinet.
- Over-the-range microwaves: on the cavity frame when the door is open, or on the underside.
If the sticker is worn or missing, the original purchase paperwork, the owner registration email, or the box label (if you kept it) usually carry the same numbers.
What the Serial Number Can Tell You
On many Frigidaire serial numbers the format is two letters followed by digits. The first letter generally identifies the factory, the second the product type, the first digit the last digit of the manufacturing year, and the next two digits the week of that year. Because only one year digit is stored, a serial starting with a 5 could mean 2005, 2015 or 2025, so you have to judge the decade from the appliance itself. Treat the decode as a helpful estimate, not an official record.
Take a Photo Instead of Copying It
Characters like 0 and O, or 1 and I, are easy to misread on a small tag. A clear phone photo of the whole label is the most reliable thing to send when you request service. It also records the electrical rating and date details a technician may need.
