What E4A Means
E4A on Frigidaire electronic-control dryers indicates a long dry time — the cycle ran much longer than expected, usually from weak heat or poor airflow. On models without a digital display, the code is shown by flashing indicator lights rather than letters.
Common Causes of E4A
- Restricted exhaust vent
- Weak heating element or gas burner
- Oversized loads
- Moisture sensor issue
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the dryer or turn off its breaker first. Clean the lint screen and the screen housing. Check the flexible vent duct behind the dryer for crushing or kinks without disconnecting gas lines. Go outside and confirm the exterior vent flap opens with strong airflow when the dryer runs. If E4A returns with a clear vent, book service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Heating element and burner parts are inside the cabinet with high-voltage or gas connections.
- A restricted vent is also a fire hazard — full vent cleaning is best done with proper tools.
- Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered by your warranty — check your warranty terms first.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
