The bucket light stays on even though the bucket is empty. What can I do?

Switch the dehumidifier off and unplug it. Remove the bucket, make sure it is empty and clean, check that any float inside it moves freely, and slide it back in until it seats fully. If the light stays on, the bucket switch or control needs to be tested.

My dehumidifier freezes up in the basement. Is it broken?

Not necessarily. Dehumidifiers work less well in cool rooms, and ice can form on the coils when the room temperature is low. Check the operating temperature range in the owner's manual. If the room is within range and it still ices over, the fan, sensor or cooling system should be inspected.

Why is the continuous drain hose not draining?

Gravity drainage only works when the hose runs downhill all the way to the drain, with no kinks, loops or raised sections. Switch the unit off, then check the hose route and the connection at the drain port as your owner's manual shows.

Should I check for recalls on an older dehumidifier?

Yes. Some older dehumidifiers sold under several brand names have been recalled for overheating risk. Look up your model number on cpsc.gov or contact the manufacturer. If your unit is listed, stop using it and follow the recall instructions instead of booking a repair.
