What F1 Means
On Frigidaire room air conditioners, F1 means freeze protection has engaged. The control has detected conditions where the indoor coil could ice over and has paused cooling to protect it.
Common Causes of F1
- Dirty filter restricting airflow
- Blocked grille or curtains in front of the unit
- Very low set temperature in a cool room
- Low refrigerant charge or sensor fault if it persists
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the unit off and unplug it. Clean the filter and make sure nothing blocks the front grille or airflow. Leave it off for a while so any ice can melt, then plug it back in and restart. If F1 keeps returning, book service.
