What P1 Means
Frigidaire lists P1 as a full bottom tray on room air conditioners, and portable unit documentation describes the same code. Frigidaire also notes the tray may already be full at seasonal startup.
Common Causes of P1
- Condensate collected faster than the unit can evaporate it
- High humidity or dehumidify mode use
- Water left in the tray from the previous season
- Stuck float or tray sensor if P1 appears with an empty tray
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the unit off and unplug it first. Move it carefully to a place where water can drain, remove the drain plug and let the tray empty, then reinstall the plug securely. Plug the unit back in and restart it. In humid weather, consider the continuous drain option described in your manual.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None — draining the tray is routine owner maintenance. If P1 appears with an empty tray, the float or sensor needs a technician.
