What tu Means
tu on Frigidaire-built dishwashers is a turbidity sensor failure. That sensor measures how cloudy the wash water is so the dishwasher can adjust cycle length. When it fails, the unit usually still washes, but cycle adjustment is affected.
Common Causes of tu
- Failed turbidity sensor
- Filmed-over sensor window from hard water or residue
- Sensor seal or wiring fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clean the filter assembly (breaker off first), since heavy soil in the sump can affect sensor readings. Run a cycle. If tu remains, book service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The turbidity sensor mounts in the sump with a seal that must be replaced when the sensor is removed, or water leaks into the base.
- Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered by your warranty — check your warranty terms first.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
