Frigidaire Washer EF1 Clogged Drain Pump

EF1 on Frigidaire front-load washers with a digital display indicates a clogged drain pump.

What EF1 Means

EF1 on Frigidaire front-load washers with a digital display indicates a clogged drain pump.

Common Causes of EF1

  • Lint and debris in the pump filter
  • Coins, hair ties or small socks in the pump
  • Restricted drain hose

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Unplug the washer first, and if hot water was used, let it cool. Place towels and a shallow pan in front of the lower access panel, open the drain pump filter door as your manual shows, drain the water slowly, and unscrew the filter to clear lint and objects. Refit it snugly, close the panel, plug in and run a Drain & Spin. If EF1 returns, book service.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Beyond the filter, removing the pump involves water-filled hoses and electrical connections inside the cabinet.
  • Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered by your warranty — check your warranty terms first.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
