What E57 Means
E57 on Frigidaire front-load washers with a digital display indicates high current on the inverter — the board that drives the motor.
Common Causes of E57
- Inverter board fault
- Motor fault stressing the inverter
- Wiring fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the washer first and wait until the drum has stopped completely. Open the door and redistribute the load — a single heavy item like a bath mat or comforter can strain the motor — and remove part of an oversized load. Plug back in and run a Drain & Spin. If E57 returns, book service.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The drive motor and its inverter board carry high current and can hold a charge after unplugging; they are not owner-serviceable.
- Damage caused during a repair attempt may not be covered by your warranty — check your warranty terms first.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
