What F5 Means
F5 on older Frigidaire ovens (wall ovens and range ovens from before the expanded two-digit controls arrived in the mid-2000s) with a single-digit F-code electronic oven control is documented in Frigidaire service literature as the control's watchdog circuit being active when it should not be: after Bake, Broil or Clean was selected, the control checked its heating relay and the relay failed the test. A relay that does not behave as commanded can mean heat that does not shut off normally.

- Keypad buttons binding in the glass panel
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn the oven off and keep the door closed. Once it has cooled, switch off the breaker for 30 seconds and restore power. If F5 returns — or the oven seems to keep heating when off — leave the breaker off and book service.

- A heating relay that fails its self-test is a potential overheating risk, so the oven should not be used until checked.
- Relay and keypad checks involve the control board behind the console.
