What E42 Means
E42 on Frigidaire front-load washers with a digital display (including Affinity, Gallery and current front-load models) is described as the door remaining locked after the cycle has completed.
Common Causes of E42
- Door lock assembly stuck
- Water still in the drum preventing unlock
- Control board not releasing the lock
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Wait a few minutes — some washers delay unlocking until the drum stops fully. Unplug for 5 minutes and plug back in. If the door stays locked and there is water inside, follow your manual's drain filter steps with the washer unplugged. If the door still will not open, book service rather than forcing it.
